This was the last in a series of ambient albums Kompakt Records boss Wolfgang Voigt put out under the alias of Gas. While his earlier records were abstract and bleak, conjuring post-apocalyptic landscapes, this one is straight-up bliss for the most part. There’s kind of a peaceful, nocturnal vibe to it. Picture hanging out in a forest at night during a gentle rainstorm. There’s definitely a bit of an eerie undercurrent to some of these tracks. The forest is not exactly a safe place. But you’re just too caught up in the moment and blissed out to be worrying about threats lurking in the dark.

Yeah this is a classic. Along with the "Chill Out" by the KLF, this is probably my favorite ambient album (or whatever you want to call it).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the download. I heard about this one via Pitchfork's Top 200 albums of the 2000s so it was nice to find a 320kbps download.
